Where did it go?

I can't believe it has been so long since I posted. I recently got a part time job at a local fabric store,DANGEROUS.  I have less time to sew, but a resource for alot of great projects! The huge item everyone is making right now are the fleece tied blankets. With the fleece on major markdown right now it is really affordable. I have made a couple and have some more fleece projects in the work for Christmas gifts.
My grandmother inlaw gave me a stash of flannel so I see pajama pants in everyone stocking. So much to do and only 6 weeks left. Today is an all day sewing day .... so I better get to it!

Sweet Summertime....

Ah, summer. The sunshine , the rain, the humidity. The heat and the humidity. Did I mention the humidity?
The A.C. ahhhhhhhhhh.
I have finished a new project to show you, a sweet summertime dress. It could be for some lucky sweet girl who will have a birthday soon. Or it could go on Etsy. If the sweet girl's Mama will help me with measurements so I know if it will fit. Cough, cough. You know who you are! If not this one then another one similar. I would love to know what you think of it. Should I make more for my Etsy site? It is sort of my own design. I modified it from one I had seen in a book. Please leave comments!
Summertime also is great time for the farmers market! If you haven't gone you are missing out. Great produce and beautiful flowers, not to mention crafts.
Have a good week everyone 'til next time!

Sewing in the Rain

Well not literally. It has been rainy and cloudy this week so I have been able to keep my mind on sewing. This is a skirt I just finished for Etsy. I posted it today. Matthew is traveling this week so I can make a big mess all over the house and not clean it up until Friday! When I do that in the sewing room he always asks " What exploded?" He should see it now...I can't even work in there. I moved my sewing machine to the kitchen table! So everything has exploded to the rest of the apartment. The cats don't know what are going on LOL. Well, I will have to get it put away soon...it may take a couple days. But hope to get one or two things made first. Have a good week all!

New items for Etsy

I have been sewing skirts this week for my Etsy site and hope to post them today. It is fun to make skirts for the girls! Angelina and Cailey got one of the skirts and I asked Hope to take pictures so I can post them. My 6 mo. size skirt is modeled by a bear my mother inlaw made for me some time ago. Isn't it cute? Sadly all my girls are to big to model these smaller skirts.

Back to it after a week off

Did some sewing and painting today. Altered a dress I made for my grandaughter and made a gathered skirt for etsy. I also worked on a new medium that is painted and layered paper fabric. I don't know that I like the result I came up with on my first piece. I am going to make a purse or small bag of it though. I think it might be cool made into something. I will post pics as soon as I have them. Hope every one has a good week!

Fun Week

I have been playing all week! Monday had all 3 of my girls and the rest of the week my oldest grandaughter has been staying with us. I taught her how to use the sewing machine and she made a pillow, then I made her sleep capris to match. We have been swimming every day, she would live at the pool if I would stay. It has been fun and good for me since I have gotten some much needed excerise. Next week my husband is on vacation and hope to do a day trip or two. The Des Moines Art Fair was great. Lots of talent and found some inspriation. We decided we would like to do it some day. Have a good week every one. Turning out to be a busy summer!

My mother inlaw brought me a bag of interesting fabrics from her Route 66 travels. So I am sure it will be showing up soon in my projects!

Art Purses

I've been working on art purses this week. I have done paintings on fabric and made purses with the paintings on the front. One is for my mother in law. She loves pansies and found some material she fell in love with...so had to do a flower lady purse for her. Hope to post pics in next few days.
It is not raining here today. First day in a week or so. The rest of the week there is a chance each day , so we have to make the most of it!
